‘During the Dragon Boat Festival, the summer solstice approaches with the days becoming longer and clearer.’ Evidently, the Dragon Boat Festival arrives gracefully, following the footsteps of thousands of years of culture. Meanwhile, the Junior High School Division of the east campus held colorful and lively Dragon Boat Festival-themed activities, allowing students to fully experience the charm of the festival and inherit the excellent traditional Chinese culture.
to start with, during the Dragon Boat Festival, the grass is lush and green. Also, the wild mugwort is tender and pale in color, which intertwined with the colorful threads to form a unique scene. For instance, the added items such as sachets, tassels, and zongzi were incorporated into a bunch of small and exquisite mugwort bundles. On the other hand, students neatly arranged the fresh and plump mugwort, wound and tied it with colorful silk threads, wrapping the good wishes of health and safety inside the mugwort bundle. Afterwards, when the natural-scented bundles of mugwort were formed in the hands and hung in front of the classrooms, traditional culture also quietly took root in the hearts of the students.
Furthermore, students combined the image of Qu Yuan with the customs of the Dragon Boat Festival, using tools such as brushes, colored paper, and scissors to depict the picture of the Dragon Boat Festival in their minds. As the saying goes, ‘The dragon boat floats with its head up, with plumage flags hanging down like lotus flowers.’ More remarkably, the intense scene of the dragon boat races was also transformed by the students into colorful and highly creative exquisite wall paintings, which not only showcased the artistic talents of students, but also reflected their understanding and love for the Dragon Boat Festival culture.
To conclude, the archery field was bustling with excitement where students held their arrows, held their breath, aimed at the target, and threw with all their strength. ‘Hit it! Hit it!’ Every time an arrow was successfully inserted into the pot, there would be a burst of cheers from the audience. Therefore, this ancient game enabled students to experience the refined tastes of the ancients and appreciate the unique charm of traditional games in a joyful atmosphere.
